If you move workspaces in GNOME Shell (Ubuntu’s default desktop) using gestures, but find workspace background sliding alongside your apps distracting, a new extension can help. Created by CleoMenezesJr (Weather O’Clock), Static Workspace Background makes — as I’m sure you’ve guessed — the background a fixed point: it stays firmly in place.
